The Wallace Collection in London has a pleasure to invite you to the next Seminar in the History of Collecting during which Dr Paweł Gołyźniak (Research Fellow, Department of Classical Archaeology, Institute of Archaeology, Jagiellonian University in Krakow) will present his paper entitled ‘Philipp von Stosch (1691–1757) and his circle: collecting and studying of ancient engraved gems, from antiquarianism to proto-archaeology.’

The lecture will take place on Monday, 25 April, at 5.30 pm on Zoom and YouTube and not at the Wallace Collection Lecture Theatre.

An article by Paweł Gołyźniak entitled "Glyptic treasures in Krakow and Old Master paintings collection of Constantine Schmidt-Ciążyński", including presentation of Project Stosch's results has been just published in the proceedings of the international conference Collecting Antiquities from the Middle Ages to the End of the Nineteenth Century held on March 25-26, 2021 at the Wrocław University Institute of Art History.

The paper as well as the whole book are avaliable in Open Access from this link.

Dr Paweł Gołyźniak will be presenting project's preliminary results at the international conference Buying Art and Antiquities in Eighteenth Century Italy​. His talk is entitled: "Philipp von Stosch (1691-1757) and his dominant position in terms of trade, collecting and research of engraved gems in the eighteenth-century Italy".
